Description
Waiting for the sun to come up, I realized there was a heron in the tree overlooking the lake.
The Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area opened for public recreation on March 1, 1999. The area was maintained by the Papio-Missouri NRD until October 1, 2007, when the City of Papillion took over maintenance of the area. The park is open year-round from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. The Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area is located south of Highway 370 and west of 96th Street. The main entrance to the park is located at approximately 102nd and Schram Road. Please note that the area is a pack-in/pack-out facility. Thank you in advance for helping to keep this area clean.
Whether poised at a river bend or cruising the coastline with slow, deep wingbeats, the Great Blue Heron is a majestic sight. This stately heron with its subtle blue-gray plumage often stands motionless as it scans for prey or wades belly deep with long, deliberate steps. They may move slowly, but Great Blue Herons can strike like lightning to grab a fish or snap up a gopher. In flight, look for this widespread herons tucked-in neck and long legs trailing out behind.

Elizabeth, I had to come back for another visit to this gorgeous image. The tones and textures are incredible...extraordinary photography, my friend. Nicely done. v/f
